JET CITY..OH YEAH!!

I went to Guitar Center this morning to get a 12 set case of Fender strings for $29. I came away with this wicked JET CITY 20 Soldano designed amp. It smokes. Better than the Reverb-O-Sonic and Astroverb I previously had. The kicker...I got this amp and 2 cases of strings for $304.89 total with the coupon I had. 2 EL84's and it is loud and sounds unbelievable for what I paid for. This is now gonna be my #1 gig amp.

Well Mr. Combs, I didn't have the coupon but am now a proud owner of a JET CITY 20 as well. This amp is just the bomb for the price and the sounds I get out of this amp is just incredible. I got it for $323 with fricken CA TAX (9.5%) but the amp is well worth more. I feel bad for my brothers and sisters in China but if this amp was made in the US, it would well have a selling price of over $1000. With the 2010 NAMM coming, I believe this amp will definitly be a hot item to come. As for #1 gig amp for me, not really. This is the consumate small club rig where the stage is cramped or a pure blues/jazz gig for me. For bigger venues I will still haul my Marshall Half-Stack. Thanks for the introduction as this is really good stuff bro!!!

You'd love it Dan! The head is all tube and designed by Mike Soldano. I believe this will catch on fire after NAMM 2010 as the product release just in October 2009. Controls are just like a standard Marshall - Preamp, TMB control, Power, Prescence. 3 - 12AX7's and two EL84's in the power section. Awesome tone bro!

not to be nahsayer as I dont know anything about Jet city amps but I'm having chinese made tube amp woes at the moment. enough to make me go amp shopping . My ashdown 60 watt tube combo is 7 years old . Its a printed cirtcuit board made in china even though its touted as a british made amp .Always liked the amp but its is starting to have burnouts all over the board . Just got it fixed for the 3rd time in a year and i wont be fixing it again

The tech I take it too told me he is having so many amps with chinese PCB's comin in with the same probelm. Even some pretty expensive marshall combos are usuing them and once the board gets old burnouts are common .

My amp was my 1st tube amp and I got 7 years out of it. It only cost $1400(australian) which was half the price of other 2 x 12 combos i was looking at so i'm not too broken up about it but still I think you should be able to expect more than 7 years out of an amp

You are not being a nahsayer Matt but you do speak the truth. It really doesn't matter if it was made in China or not - PC boards don't last a long time. This is why point to point wiring will be the best buy type amps out there. The only problem is, point to point amps are not cheap. It is easier to wave solder a board then to solder each component.

Here is the upside for me. I used to repair electonic medical equipment for 25 years and do a lot of the work myself, so when it comes time to repair, I will do it myself. In the meantime, I may look for some fish paper boards if I am feeling aggressive and may rewire the Jet City amp one day, or maybe not.

Fender Blues Juniors are notourius for having problems with boards after 3-5 years. That is the price you pay for lower cost amps. Cheap labor and a lot of short cuts.

I'm having an itch to check out one of those Krank amps that someone was talking about. All of my amps are Fenders and similar- great clean side, but no distortion channel. I saw that new 1980 Krank in a Guitar Mag. Interesting.....

I am different from you Dan. My amps are Mesa Boogie Mark II Combo, Marshall JCM800 into 1960 AV 4x12 Slant Cab, Fender Champ, and my rack Marshall 9001 all tube preamp into Peavey 50/50 power amp using EL34's in the output.

As you know the latest acquisition is the Jet City. My real desire was to get a Fender Black Face Deluxe (priced way too much now), Train Wreck (should have bought in the mid 90's), and/or Matchless. The Jet City fills that gap however with the British Sound and only 20 Watts out.
