I'm putting together an RG just for stage use. I have an old RG560 pup in the bridge, and an INF3 in the neck. The 560 has 2 leads and a ground, the INF3 has 4 leads and a ground. I'm using the standard square 3-way switch w/8 terminals. Can someone tell me what goes where?

ever look at jemsite or other Ibanez forums?

I found this on jemsite:

"The white wire is hot and the red wire is the coil tap on the INF pickups."

Hope that helps a bit

There's also got to be a pair tied off, and a negative to the switch. For some reason I've always had trouble registering on jemsite. It's a shame, because I own the real Jem, the original 777 in loch ness green. It was limited to 777 built, mine is #126.

Anyhow, my suspicions are that it follows DiMarzio configurations.

i just stumbled on that bit of info on jemsite

if you have 4 wires, then 4 less 2 ( the red and white wires) would give you the 2 to tie together unless I miss my guess - and you have a ground ID'd that you mentioned

IF they copy Dimarzio color codes, I know stewmac has a diagram for those

OK, so the red and white get tied together? I think that's the way it is on the Jem. I'll go with that. What about which positions on the 8 terminals?

Thats what I found in my research.

Why does that thing have 8 terminals for 3 positions?
A 5 way switch has 8 terminals!!

We can dig at the Jemsite.. or you could perhaps open up a Jem and snap some photos.

All Ibanez RG's use the cheap, square switches, and they all have 8 terminals. Eventually, I'll start using the better Strat-type switches. Usually it's like this:
1- neck hot
2- mid hot
3- bridge hot
4- to switch
5- open
6- neck-
7- mid-
8- bridge-

I'm going to assume I should wire it just like this, leaving 2&7 open. I'll let you know how it works out.
