Hey all, it's been awhile. Oh well, life happens.

Question:

Boss Loop Station or Digitech Jam Man?

I'm working on some acoustic stuff and am really in the market for one of these pedals, or something else if it's better!

Your opinions, pros/cons, and just general BS will certainly be appreciated.

Carl

All good, just tending to things I guess.

I went poking around the Digitech site and the Hardwire stuff looks good, however I'm looking for a looper. The Time bender looks cool though............

Yeah, wasn't sure if the HardWire line has a looper (didn't think so). But, honestly, I've been using their products for a LONG TIME now (since the early 90's), and I'm extremely happy with all their pedals.

Damn good quality, and their distortion pedals offer the best "lead" tone, I've ever experienced, especially with pedals. Their distortion pedals don't suck tone.

I like the "Strum Tempo" feature that the TimeBender unit has. Sounds like a cool feature!

I thought it had pretty cool features based on the video. It has a looper in it as well, but ony twenty seconds worth.

I have recently watched this one performer in my area who is a one-man-band, and he uses a Boss Loop Station. He's had it for years, and looks pretty old, and he's able to loop up to 15 tracks live and sing along with it, using different instruments and everything. I went up to him after the show and asked him a few questions. He says that he really likes the Boss loop station, as it's extremely durable and easy to use, and has a long loop period. Thats just a bit of info I know, but that's the only experience that I have with ANY kind of looper, and has a good first impression.
As for the Digitech, I have not seen or heard anyone that uses it so I have no input to it on either end of the argument.
Hope that helped in some way.

Hey Carl,

To answer the question at hand, I've not used either, HOWEVER, I have to tell ya', I am a huge fan of the new Digitech line of pedals....Man, they are absolutely killer!!! Especially the "Hard-Wire" line.

Carl,
I own the RC-20 loop station and believe that it is rock solid. I use it primarily as a writing tool in my studio. I'll loop guitar, bass, vocals and drums through it. The only limitation is that you get like 15 minutes of total record time.
I liked the way the Digitech looked in that you could record to a CF card with 99 banks to save your loops, then an integrated way to save those to your computer. I have also heard a lot of bad things about the Jamman being buggy. I have also heard more accounts of the Jamman becoming a "doorstop."

Taking it a step further, I've heard terrible things about the RC-50.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Hey Cinda, thanks.

I'm still researching this and have come across another "player".

The Gibson Echoplex Pro looks very good indeed, I'm actually almost favoring it over the Boss and Digitech.

I appreciate your time.

The Echoplex is a cool piece. I'm pretty sure it's discontinued tho. When it came out, the street price was just under $1000.

I'm not sure, but I think the sampling time may have maxed out at 32 seconds too... but don't quote me on that.

There are some used ones around, but the people that have them have hung on to them.

Good luck and keep us posted.
