How do I achieve the correct neck angle on my home made Les Paul style guitar. I'm not doing something right. I think I need some kind of jig or something. I really could use some kind of picture. I have the Stewart Mac plans for a Les Paul but I still have the same problem.
Thanks Rick

Might want to google it. That sounds like something you would probably need to talk to a repair shop or luthier about. |

Just out of curiosity, how do you know the angle is wrong? |

I am no expert or luthier but I do know that neck shims are used in order to keep a flat plane across the fretboard thereby keeping the strings at a uniform distance off of the fretboard from fret 1 through 22 (or 24). |

I forgot to add that if shims are not available I have seen and used myself guitar picks and place them at the heel of the neck. They come in so many different thickness's now that better neck tilt variations are available as well as accuracy. |

I wonder if there is something on the net.
Is the angle 3 or 3.5 degrees? |

According to my research, the angle is 4 to 6, depending on which years and which production plant made the Les Paul.
Not sure if that helps or not. A steeper angle is associated with a higher bridge, and sometimes more tone and sustain. |
