Pretty much these are my options for my next guitar.
What I'm looking for is this: carved top super strat mahogany body maple neck (set or neck through) passive pickups floyd rose knobs that are out of the way slightly and not in a position where i'll keep bumping them with my pinky. and the final very important part: not a super thin toothpick neck. I'd like a thin C shape ideally, not chunky like a Gibson, and a little thinner than a vintage Fender neck, but not so thin that it's gonna break in my hands like an Ibanez.
Dean Vendetta 4F: It's a new model from Dean, fairly easy to get, and runs about $700

Schecter Blackjack C-1 FR: I only want to get the 2008 model which had two knobs. the 2009s have three knobs, strat style, and the volume is up really close to the bridge pickup...I HATE THAT!!

Basically, it all comes down to the neck shape, and just my luck, these seem to be models that the dean/schecter dealers here never seem to carry. Has anyone here played these? can you tell me what they feel like?
thanks!

Yo Ryan! What's happ'nin!
Well, a little while back, I played a bunch of the Schecter models (C-1) or something like that. Was a damn nice guitar for the money! I was quite impressed with the nice build quality, fairly easy to play, good action, nice overall finish, set-neck (which is awesome!), Grover tuners...really nice binding! Overall, I was very pleased with it.
My buddy carries them in his music store.
Never played the newer Dean models....
Both are similar, but, I like the headstock on the Schecter a little better. But, that doesn't really matter. hehe
PS: I remember when Schecter's were made by hand, right here in the USA. My friend has a couple of them, still in the original cases they came in, and he NEVER plays them! LOL
They are gorgeous!

Well, I finally got a chance to play a similar Dean, basically the Vendetta minus the Floyd. I also played a couple of the newer schecter C-1s to get a feel for the neck.
Must say I found the schecter necks a bit chunky and the frets too big. The Dean neck was beautiful though, just the right thickness, and smaller frets.
Definitely gonna get that Dean when I have the moolah! :D
Think I might replace the stock pups with a Seymour Duncan Full Shred Trembucker and something else in the neck for a shimmering almost single coil tone...not sure what pickup would do that though.
