i like the sh550.. i'm a sucker for semi acoustics. my girl bought
me a brand new maple 335 about 10 years ago and i just love
it.. that's my second one in my lifetime, i wore the other one out
touring in the heat of north queensland many moons ago.. when
i met the new girl she saw pics of me playing the old 335 that i
had had from 17 years of age and that was a few years ago
know..(34 eeek!) she took me to a music shop when we were out
shopping one day and bought me a new 335.. flogged me.. i'm
not letting go of this one.. she's a ripper, great lady, very,very
supportive. we've been together for 12 years now!
and chris woman are funny animals as we all know. she has just
ordered me a handmade acoustic of which i take delivery in 6
months fingers crossed. & i said to her don't do that they are
way too expensive and she said it's not for you it's for me so i
can hear you playing on a decent acoustic.. anyway mate i'm
rambling
over my morning coffee..
when you get the new axe do a recording i'd love to hear it.. we
don't get carvin here in australia( as far as i know) all the music
shops around have zip.. kind of a back woods the gold coast
when it comes to instruments... over the years i've seen models
in mags but never in the flesh. they look like they have their act
together.do you have a my space addie? i f so send it to me
please.. or facebook. i spend most of my computer time there
keeping up with friends, musos and family.. but i'm back to
wholenote
again.. seems a little quieter here these days!and f---! the loss
of old Charlie rocked me.. he was a great dude.. god broke the
mould when he put charlie on the planet.

Congratulations!
You and I are amongst the few people buying guitars in this economy. I used to own some Carvin in the past and it never disappointed. Yours sounds like a real winner. Show some pics when it arrives.

The only complaint I have ever heard about Carvin is that some folks don't like their pickups. I guess it is a matter of taste. Of course, they now offer a bigger selection, but how would you choose?

Well, honestly, I found it really easy to chose the pickups. I was on the phone for almost an hour with the sales rep. We went over EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of this guitar. He explained the pickups to me, which pickups were good for "what" application...the whole 9 yards.

My rep was very honest with me, took his time with me, respected me (as a consumer & musician)...I gotta say, dealing with this rep on the phone was a nice experience.

So, we narrowed it down to the original choice of the C22's pickups. hehe

For rock, hard rock, metal, rock-blues, clean tones...etc...this choice seemed to be the best, overall, for my needs. If not, I'm only out a whopping $10.00! I can always buy more pickups, and I have some extra pickups here in my house, anyway. No great loss! hehe

We'll see on Tuesday, the final product....Hopefully, it's everything I wanted!

Mine was a pedal steel and the pickups were great.

It was in the 60's or 70's if memory serves.
