Charlie has gone home..........

Folks,

It is with great sadness I pass this info along. From Warren, Charlies son.....

"Just an update. Charles passed away today at 2:05 pm.

During the moments before he passed, I picked up his mandolin and
played him
a round of Amazing Grace.

All in all, he passed peacefully.

Thank you for your support. We will all miss dad.

-- Warren Gacsi"

I have asked for info about cards and donations to a favorite charity. As soon as I hear form them, I'll pass it along.

Charlie was a really great guy. A great musician and a teacher, not just of music , but of life.

He will be missed.

Oh wow...

Charlie helped me out with one of my lessons. It turns out I had the concept completely wrong and he helped me understand it. The only reason he did it was because he liked to help people understand music. He was so devoted to it and we all could feel that.

He's going to be missed.

I remember asking Charlie a question one day about some theory. And yes he did put in a lot of time in effort into his works and teaching. I am not that familiar with him, but I do know enough to say that he was great.

Charlie was an excellent man. His contributions to this site shows it and the fact that he participated in a horrific war to serve this nation makes him even more honorable.

We will remember you as an amazing person Charlie.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I know he was a big part of this site. Even though I never had the pleasure of communicating with him, I seem to recall that I have benefited from his lesson work here.

Hi Guys
I had read this several months ago and still cannot get used to the idea that Charlie is gone. I had some personal communication with him and he seemed timeless to me. I would hope that somehow all the work he did here would end up being timeless through those on the site that have benifited from his knowledge and willingness to share.
Charlie, you ARE greatly missed.

Hi Chester,

I totally agree... He was an awesome person, with a ton of knowledge, in which he was always willing & eager to share with us.

I never had the pleasure to actually speak to him on the phone, or meet him, but, just dealing with him here (for all these years) was great.

It's not every day that you get to meet someone like Charles. The world needs more people like him.

I miss both Rex AND Charles.....Both excellent people.

Oh yeah, Uncle Rex, there's another guy I never met but still miss.
They were both special people that I got to know thanks to this site. Something that keeps me coming back here I guess!
Have a great week Chris

Hi Chester,

Ya' know, they were certainly 2 great people...

I've also been wonderin' about Bruce Maag, too.

Havn't seen him here in QUITE some time. I "thought" I heard that he had an operation on his hand, or arm, or something like that????
