Jamming

Here is another tune that is a collab with Tequila Slim and The Cerulean Factor.

Slim has the first solo, CF has the second solo, and my solo is the third one.

Probably no one will respond, but no matter...here it is anyway.

Hope you enjoy.

Lisa

Lisa,

Question? Was this done with all of you playing together, or each one added a track?
Reason I ask is that each one seems really clean, no ambient sounds.

Also, it sounded like it was direct to the PC or recording device. The volumes and tones of the guitars seem almost subdued. I was wondering what volume you were playing at, if through miked amps.

I know when I record direct to the PC using a modeler, it sounds Ok but there is minimal interaction between the guitar and the sound of an amplifier. I was thinking that your playing is coming along really well and you seem to be playing with more & more confidence. How much more feeling and interaction there might be if or when you play at a decent volume where the sound from the amp plays a part in it?

Of course I could be way off and you may be playing through an amp, but through my PC speakers, it sounds really subdued and ...almost sterile. The tone, not the playing.

Keep up the good work,
Andy S.

Hi Andrew,

We put the tune together over the internet.

I used a LP with P90's into a TonePort interface, and I think I was using a Jazz clean model in the Gearbox software, and no effects at all not even reverb. Tried to match my volume with theirs.

I'm not sure how CF records his stuff, but Slim puts his silverface amp in a closet and mics it straight in to his computer. He and I both use Audacity.

I got a Shure SM57 for Christmas, so I will probably mic my Champ 600 on the next tune. Recording is still a pretty new thing for me, and I've got a lot to learn about it.

Thanks, Andrew. I appreciate your input.

Thanks, Chris.

The last time I posted a tune here I had to whine to get anyone to respond to it so that's why I said that, lol.

That's not going to happen, Alan, lol. I get nervous when I hit the "record" button as it is.
