Happy Holidays Noters!

Put down that turkey leg and dig into a second helping of
harmony homework!

Continuing on from our last thread...

Again, harmonize the melody note below, but this time it must
be some variety of dominant 7th chord!

Kindly name your chord and provide analysis...let us know how
the melody note is functioning within your chord structure. Try
to keep the melody note as the highest voice (note) in your
chord, and try not to repeat any chord that has already been
given.

Remember...Dom7 voicings only. Now stop stuffing your face
and get to making some musical gravy! Game on!

The F note is functioning as the suspended 4th in a C9sus chord.
This chord can also be thought of as Bb/C.

I can see how relating those notes to a B root wouldn't fit quite
as nicely...I suppose B13(b5,#5) could be a possibility, but I
think G7alt/B
works better.

Minor 7 chords don't really qualify as dominant 7's even though they've got a flat 7 in them, do they?

Which I'll usually mix in with the above G7 when playing over 1 chord vamps or multi-measure passages.

Not sure if I'm hitting the true intention of Rob's post, but if "just showing up" counts for anything, I'll take it. ;)

already, but I think your voicing is more appropriate to this
excercise.

BTW...for your original submission, if you simply add a natural
3rd
to your Dmin7 voicing (in place of the fifth), you get a D7#9
(a.k.a.
"the Hendrix chord") which is a great chord!
