New guitars are always a cure for a divorce...

Well I am getting a divorce, so I just treated myself to 5 new guitars...lol. I guess I went a little overboard, but I think I deserve it. Here is a list of my new gear...

-2005 Fender American Vintage '57 Reissue Stratocaster
-1983 Fender American Stratocaster
-1993 Fender American Stratocaster
-1997 Gibson Studio "Gem Series"
-2004 PRS McCarty 10 Top

I will get pictures of all my guitars together sometime soon.

Sounds like a nice new stable of guitars.

Ya better hope that her lawyer doesn't try to make a claim half of ALL the property, then insist that you sell the items for a financial even split.

Happened to a friend. It was his spending that caused part of his problems as it was. She filed, the lawyers decided on an even split. He had to sell all his stuff (which of course, he didn't get all that it was worth) then give her half the money.

Now he's starting all over again.

Best of luck to you.

I think I am going to be safe, first off, she has no money to get a lawyer, second she would be too dumb to even think about splitting the property. The other thing is that we are just getting a legal separation for now to save money and she told me to write everything up and she will sign it. We have already agreed upon a set amount that I will give her (which is a lot less than everything that we have bought or owned together) so I will still be making out pretty good in this divorce.

You might even want to consider getting an attorney to guide you
through this, whether she chooses to do so or not.
I'd try to keep a low profile until all this is finalized; then if you feel
like throwing a party, go wild.

Thanks for all the legal advice, but isn't this a guitar website? We need to focus more on my new loves and less on my old worn-down overplayed axe...

Have you had a chance to decide on a favorite yet?

I have not yet decided on a favorite yet, but it is probably a toss up between the 57' Reissue and the PRS McCarty. They both play the way I like my guitars and they both have such unique sounds that it would be so hard to choose between them. I would still almost choose my Fender Amer Tele Deluxe that I have had for a while over either of those two, but I guess it will be hard for me to ever get rid of them...(unless I am forced to...)

Its the idea that your 'old worn down over played axe' might steal you new loves from you that makes us all so very concerned!

P.S When are you going shopping for vintage Fender twins, VOX ac30's, Marshall stacks & the latest Rivera & Mesa models?
