OK - what's the secret?
I've noticed that not many people use the chat room. Is everything working OK? and are members interested in using it a little more? I'd be interested in everyone's views.

I think it said someone was in there when I logged on. What does one person do alone in a chat room?

Well they could dust, vacuum, wash the windows. They could be waiting and hoping someone will come in and talk to them, or they might be talking to themselves.

The chatroom has always been a low use feature here. One reason often given is that it's hard for many users to get into. (I think that had to do with browser compatibility issues) Another, and probably the most relevent, is that most users on this site don't seem to be much into live web chat.

ahhhh, the chat room.
I spent a little time reading up on the sites beginings and found that the chat 'feature' never did work well, from day 1.

folks never really got into it. but a year or so ago, I found a service called "userplane" thats a live feed you can plug your guitar (and even a web-cam) into. last I knew, these things were popping up everywhere. but I didn't like the userplane homepage... adds, traps, all kinds of nasties...

Jim hosted one....

but you kinda had to schedule to meet your buddies there. theres another one at WorldSentiment that might be more active (that one might have turned kareoke).

Jim Heidinger also hosts a couple cool jam sites, and a yahoo group.

but make sure you learn how to search the archives here at Wholenote, there are riches there. Look in the announcements forum for anything AAT (Add-a-track).

Hey, didn't I read recently that we're going to get a revamp by the boys that birthed us? Maybe they'll add an AAT forum of it's very own. And the ability to review PMs we're trying to respond to, like how the Fretbuzz does. That would be good.

but I'm just glad that the flaming has stopped, and the bad attitudes left, and you can feel comfortable kidding around with your friends again.. as long as it doesn't involve live chickens, rain pancho's, or straps.

I never used the chat room because there were no directions in how to use same. All I could do was to click on here or there leaving a mystery as to what and how.

Thanks everyone for the input.

I think it is often me that is alone in the chat room - no dusting or hoovering - just a little bit of mumbling "nobody loves me".

Thanks Chris for the useful info. I'll check out Jim's site and keep tabs on the AAT.
