Larry Graham is recognized as being the first to develop this style of playing. Many have done more with it since. I find it fascinating from a historical perspective.
I guess guitar players and bass players are apples and oranges in many ways. :) I can enjoy fabulous guitar players without wishing I could play that way myself.
