good acoustic guitar for fingerpicking

I am looking a medium price acoustic guitar for fingerpicking. Apart from a good sound, I like guitars with good neck and low action. I am evaluating Larrivee (L03)or Taylor (214) guitars. Can somebody give me some advice about this brand, or another one?.

Juan,

I think you're looking at two good options. I've played both Larrivees and Taylors, and both would meet your needs. I'm assuming you're not having to buy without trying them. Now it's time to play them side by side and see which one you like the best. A cool test is to play them blindfolded to determine which one really feels and sounds best.

Good luck and have fun with it.

Bill

Look at the Seagull Peppino DAgostino guitar. Great guitar - nice wide fingerboard.

I find that my Taylor 110 is one of the loudest guitars acoustically

Thanks for your advices. I have to clarify that both models are not available in my city shops, so unfortunately I have to make a decision based in reviews and articles. Not possible to check the guitars.I dont like this way, but I dont want to be restricted to a few available brands ( and not so good).

Both brands are outstanding, even in their low-end selections (which for everyone else is mid-to-high end). Since both are excellent guitars with noted playability, have you compared the specs to see the width and depth of the necks? Do you like a wider or narrower neck (more or less string spacing)? Is one a shorter or longer scale than the other? If so, what are your hands like?

Good luck,

Bill

Check a google search for "Steve Cloutier" - look for custom guitars by Steve - I own the final guitar sold and built by Steve in his Dutch Auction. If you ever get the chance to pick a Cloutier Guitar - take it! The instruments are for finesse picking; not for the heavy handed or "faint of heart"
