Thanks. This guy is fast and fast is good. Very impressive. I think classical is unique in that you do get relative rankings. I'm somewhere in the intermediate range. I assume Alexander Vnograd is a master. I don't know if he is the best but he is closer to it than a lot of people.

That is amazing!! To be able to get that kind of speed without a
pick is just unbelievable.

I am glad that you liked it! I also liked the rock arrangement of the Four Seasons that I posted. It is one of the few neo-classical performances that I liked.



You should also hear Solfeggio on Alexander's website. It's incredible.

Andy did make a a couple of important points though. Nobody is the best and there are some other classical guitarists that possess Alexander's great skill. I still don't know enough. lol

To be honest, it struck me as a bit of a circus act!

It was too fast and wasn't actually in time with the backing track
(who plays classical guitar to a heavy metal backing track
anyway?)

He has amazing speed that's for sure, but as music it was sorely
lacking in my opinion. Give me Julian Bream playing at a
reasonable tempo any day!

Alexander played the piece much better - albeit slower.

Damn, that was crazy!! However I do agree with Andy that at
that speed it is really just ridiculous. People tend to play "Flight
of the Bumblebee" way too fast just because they can. Very
impressive technically but musically I'd say it sounds best at
around 180 or so (which is still pretty damn fast).

As for the Vivaldi thing, it was okay but by no means amazing.
I'm not a huge fan of the whole neoclassical shred thing. I mean,
I like Yngwie, Stump, Becker, and all those guys but my tastes
lean more towards the jazzier and blusier guys like Vai, Petrucci,
DiMeola, Michael Lee Firkins etc. However, I do really like playing
violin pieces on the guitar. I have a book of Bach sonatas and it
is great musically as well as extremely challenging technically.
