Incredible Guitarist!!! Alexander Vynograd

Every classical guitarist should know about him IMO. He plays an 8 string guitar and performs very difficult pieces. IMO, he should be more famous. One of the pieces that he can perform (almost up to tempo) is BWV 847 (Prelude in C minor). He also plays Flight of the Bumblebee with the standard classical tremolo. Here is his website:

Do not forget to hear the rest of his MP3s located on his website.

I would definitely vote him as the best classical guitarist!

He is an impressive player but I strongly suggest you dispense
with the "best" talk. It is a sign of your age to some extent and I
remember thinking "who's the best" sort of stuff as a teenager
too. Trust me, there is no best. No matter who you find,
somebody will come along and change your mind. Believe it or
not, in a short while the players you have labelled the best of all
time might not be your cup of tea at all - who knows, one day
even Adam Fulara may not float your boat!

I have to say that I have seen numerous classical guitarists who
equal or exceed the playing I saw there. There is much more to
being a classical master than pure technicality. The masters are
real interpreters and expressers - that is at least as much of a
technical skill as playing very fast notes.

It's great that you are inspired by these players of late but I don't
think you will get far with other members if you insist on naming
your favourites the best - it leaves no room for their favourites!

Keep your options open is all I'm saying.

Andy

I didn't even watch the guy, truthfully.

It means, "..to each his own...", "..whatever blows your skirt up...", "...whatever makes your boat float...", etc. etc.

We all like what we like. For you to proclaim Adam what's his face "the best" guitarist in the world, or this guy "the best" classical whatever, is all good, man.

You have to realize that we all don't feel the same way you do.

Subjectivity, man. Subjectivity.

Be cool , kid.

It's difficult to learn classical on my tapato.

Why not make it relativity? Or "Theory of Subjectivity?" Or vice versa? Why am I even asking? I need to stay cool.

The cold front is progressing in the US so I will be cool. :)

The guitarist has skill though. I guess older people don't care for the "guitar competition." : )

I have a couple of classical pieces in the repertiore. They're fun for noodling around the house, or loosening up, but don't serve much of a purpose where I play.

I am not sure I have ever been out somewhere and someone has yelled, "Play some Vivaldi, MAN!"

I am not sure what competition you speak of?

Bob,
Speaking of Vivaldi, here is a rock arrangement of the Four Seasons:

Some people prefer neo-classical competition like Malmsteen. I never admired the music but have always tried to figure out why people like it. I used to like playing it but I eventually decided that it didn't captivate a wide enough audience. Including me.

It's a bit sloppy in several places - not good enough as a
demonstration of pure virtuosity.

So when you say that this stuff doesn't captivate a large enough
audience, are you suggesting that playing Bach inventions
tapping with both hands on an instrument that you have
renamed as a "tapato" does captivate a large audience?

I'm not judging the music here, just suggesting that such
thoughts of what is popular may be misguided. The fact is there
are no mainstream popular two-hand tappers. If you go down
that route, you do it because you love to do it, not because it
will make you big bucks or endear you to the world in general.

I always believe that the biggest chance you have of becoming
successful is by playing the kind of music you are passionate
about. I have considered writing pop songs for money but at the
end of the day, my heart isn't in it and it will come out in the
music. People can smell insincerity.

Do what feels right.

By wider audience I just meant my family : ) Some people consider neo-classical music ridiculous. I am more neutral about that since I still admire some versions of classical pieces.

Sometimes I get inspired to enhance my shredding skills but it now seems to become more pointless.

I play the music that I have the most passion for. And that music is classical and other polyphonic music. Rock is my favorite music to listen to but not the material that I like to advance on. This probably sounds quite ridiculous but the only thing that matters is what I prefer. : )

I am not expecting to be a musician who earns money by performing. I this to be more of a hobbie. It depends on what direction I will want to turn later on.

Check out the other classical guitarist (not the one that plays Vivaldi) in this post.

Take care and greetz,
Adrian
