Which band do you think is better? I find it hard to decide. What do
you think?

I think the older Metallica is a little better than Megadeth. But the
newer Megadeth is definately better than the newer Metallica if you
ask my opinion. I really don't like St. Anger. The System Has Failed
was really good, though!

despite the fact that megadeth was spawned by metallias f***up, dave mustaine still rocks hard. as far as originality and public impact, metallica will always be number 1 in my opinion.

I wouldn't say mustaine was f**k up. He got booted for drinking too much but he wrote alot fo the metallicas first 2 albums. He cliams his old riffs were popping up in metallicas songs for years also, but wether thats true or not who knows. Mtallica could never keep up with Dave either in terms of tempo (check out 'the four horseman' *metallica' compare to how mustaine intended it to be played 'the mechanix')

metallica have never written and album as good as 'peace sells...' or 'Rust in Peace'

To be honest i reall wish metallica would p*ss off and give a rest, tjhey havent recorde anythin even worth considering to listen to since the black album! they've been milking their past glories for 15 years now!! Where as megadeth released some of their best work in the 90s (countdown to exticntion/youthanasia) but there was some slip in standard with coming the turn of the centurary. That said, St Anger was again an awful thing to have to put yoursrelf through. Megadeths 'The system has failed' was aweseom though! I've been pesetering my friend to give ti back to me for about a year now!!

While at a friends house about 10 years ago, he had me listen to an old bootleg Metallica tape. It was back when James still sang in a really high-screamy voice (something he had already changed when "Kill em All" was recorded. So the bootleg was pre Kill em All (and with Mustain on lead guitar). There were many songs I recognized from Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets on the bootleg. In fact, they sounded just like the songs on the later Metallica albums except for how James was singng them.

So I would say Mustain probably deserves as much credit as Metallica for Ride the Lightning and possibly Mater of Puppets. He was in the band when those songs were conceived, and was a main song writer for Metallica when he was in the band, so he probably had a large hand in writing those songs. I tend to beleive Mustain when he says that his old riffs (and whole songs) were popping up all over in the later Metallica albums.

I think Mustaine deserves more credit than he gets. Personally, I have not bought any of Metallica's albums since the Black Album. And let's not mention the Napster affair...

and with good reaon. The sole member of metalias who acted on that was Lars Ulrich...

now, back when i was at school, we had a PE teacher (i cant even remember let alone speel his name :( began with a V..) who used to work in A&R back in the 80s, now before i sound like i'm goin off on some stupid tangent, my point is he used to sell bottleg tapes of up-and-coming bands to Lars.

So he claimed, wether or not its atcually true i don't know, its just wat this teacher i used to have told me. But if it is true, its make Lars and pretty big hypocrit!

Megadeth, hands down. Mustaine can play circles around Hetfield and Hammett.

I think Metallica with Mustane was like Quiet Riot with Randy Rhoads, they would have never made it as big with him. Rhoads could play circles around Carlos Cavazo (spelling) & Mustane can play circles around Kirk Hammet. However, the chemistry was not right.

I disagree. I think metallica (or QR) would have made it without those players in the early years. They gave them the kick start they needed.

The reason alot of poeple check out QRs music is becuase they are Rhoads old band...

Then wehy did Quiet Riot not make it with Rhoads? Kevin Dubrow himself has said QR would have never made it with Rhoads.
