who owns this site.

it seems that many people have been trying to contact the so called "owners" of this site. i have tried many times this year and have emailed all those i thought were the founders and owners of this site. i have to date had no response. from what it appears, to me that is, the founders have moved on and left the site as is.

if anybody has heard , seen or spone to them would they please [ass that on to all members.

Dear Mike,

I bring existing problems to the attention of Jim@wholenote.com and generally he sends a message back to me that he forwarded my message to Chris Sung. That alone tells me that what ever the problem it is being routed to the right person. I don't get responses to somethings as they are just too busy with their lives. Certainly the recent porno was taken care of quite fast.

Most of the interaction takes place between members nicely until we get a response from someone who throws barbs at others and it is then a message to the administration via Jim, gets their attention and then the offending entity is take care of in their own way.

Well thats how I look at this site, from the angle that if the info I get helps then thats a bonus. I have had heaps of bonuses..
Also I think the current members Police the site real good.
I don't know who owns the site either and that goes for a lot websites, I only hope they check it out once in a while to sort problems out.
All the best:-)

Some sites are not monitored at all. Others are monitored sometimes. I feel like there should be someone that we could get in touch with and expect an answer within, say, 48 hours. But 48 hours can be a long time to have to stare at a thousand boobs, although I unfortunately have never tried it. But such was the case recently. On this site, I mean.

actually, I'm sure that Jim has been inundated lately. I didn't even see the material that had everybody in a stir, but I've been staying away.

I'll share a bit of good news with ya. my daughter (whom I named Melody) and I recently had our first "jam". very informal, but the day was extremely quantifying.

I didn't write him about the latest incident, but rather about other WN matters a while back. I have been around WN for almost five years, but I sincerely doubt that had much to do with it.

I seem to recall that this site was startd as some sort of school project a few years ago. The "owners" aren't paid for their time and have their own livelihood, families and lives to look after.

That considered, they do a very nice job of maintaining the site. If every member chipped in $5, I'm sure they could find someone to keep a closer eye on the place for a few years...

You got that right! I'd do it in a second.

I think we are mistaking the original vision of this site - as an amateur project for a college student and obvious guitar enthusiast - with what it is today. Having links to Active Musician, banner ads for Boss, Zoom etc, this site can no longer claim to be a shoes-tring no budget concern. The point of sponsorship is to pay for the existance and running of the site. I don't think it's a matter of monetry resources for the poor moderation of the site. It's just the amount of effort the moderator is willing to put in at this time.

I know of many other forums which have far more profanity and spoilers. WN has comparity little trouble and relatively low traffic. I think if I had to choose a forum for the cushiest ride as moderator, WN would be my choice. That's because the overwhelming majority of WN members are mature decent people. This site has next to nothing in the way of updates so what is there to do but a daily sweep of all posts? It's easy and it would take very little time. I think it's time people stopped claiming that moderating WN is such a big job and we should be so grateful for what we get. If you care enough to keep it going, you should care enough to do a little maintenance. It's not half as difficult as it is being claimed.

Personally, I think Mike has every right to be a little peeved if his queries are never answered. It does sound strange that some people get fast replies and others get nothing.

Andy

Imagine spending a 40 hour work week just reading WN posts looking for bad guys. By the end of the first week, I'd probably be irritable and send everyone to the corner if it was me.

Or what if I became a power hungry monster with a desire to chew up and spit out anyone who's opinion I disliked.

bigbadwolfsm.gif

Then who'd get after me when I'm walking the line of inappropriate?

And nevermind the fact that I don't even play guitar.

All things considered, maybe we don't do so bad after all telling each other to knock it off when someone's tripped (or sailed) over the line. Seems to work pretty well with the regulars and the new folks who just need to learn. And the ones who usually cause the trouble are transients (at least I think so) and aren't here any longer than whatever rise they cause. If they stay that long.
