Both of these solid top dreads are essentially new – but have “ouches” that are purely cosmetic and do not affect structural and mechanical integrity or sound and playability. Either would make a great budget priced travel or office guitar.

Yamaha FG 413S SDB - Sandburst dreadnought steel string with a solid spruce top, diecast chrome tuners, black body binding, a thin neck profile that offers excellent playability. The action is low and fast, and the truss rod works just fine. This guitar produces solid blues tones.

This one has a bruise on the bass side of the upper bout that is visible in the photos. There is also a 1.5” surface crack that does NOT go through the top in the same general area that does not show up in photos. $135

Fender DG25S – Dread with solid cedar top with satin-finish, mahogany back and sides, nato-neck, rosewood fretboard, and all-new pearl die-cast tuning machines, wood binding and wood inlay soundhole purfling. The action is low and fast, and the truss rod works just fine. The cedar top produces surprisingly mellow and sweet tones.

This guitar has a hairline surface crack – that does not go through - in the top on the upper treble side of the bout near the fretboard. A guitar tech checked this and said that it poses no structural problem and will not spread. $195

Pics of both guitars are available at:

Shipping = exact UPS charges (probably about $11-$15 unless you live on Mars or the West Coast).
