Alvin,
Simple...just pick up the phone and call in sick!!! When I took this job I told my boss right up front "no job comes before a Dylan concert, do we have a deal?" He agreed, he just didn't know at the time I meant in all 50 states. I'm still working. Come on...call in.

If it were only that simple. It wouldn't be fair to my co-workers as we are understaffed as it is.

Wuss, CALL IN!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's more important, money or good music. The job will still be there, but the concert won't.

It has as much to do with example as anything. Would Ward Cleaver call in. I try to set as good of an example for my son as Ward set for the Beaver.
Ah, I think I just dated myself again.

Good for you, Ward Cleaver!! I have to agree with you. I'd hate to miss some good music too, but you can't see everything you want and one bad example lasts a long time. Three cheers for discipline over hedonism.

Then again....if you left the house before calling in sick and didn't come home until your ususal time......

Bill

The Jazz fest here is every year. Next year I'll be on vaction for it!!! I'm second senior person in the department, I get vacation pretty much when I want it. Matter of fact I would have used it this year, but I went crazy and took 20 days off in July and have no more left right now.

That is a drag. I live in Albuquerque now, but I am from Daytona Beach and I used to go up to the Jazz fest every year. It is a great venue (although I always thought late September would have been better weather). You might want to contact your local PBS stations there. I know in many years past they have video taped it and you might be able to get a copy from them or at least find out when it is going to be re-broadcasted. Not as good a being there live BUT better than nothing at all. Either way, sorry you couldn't make it this year, but maybe next year. (at least you a better shot at getting there than I do!!!)

For some reason, money I'm sure, no station here in Jacksonville play any Jazz any more!!! Seems strange to me for a city that puts on a Jazz fest every year.
We lost the actually Jazz station last year and just a few months ago the PBS station dropped their Jazz programming.

Now about Albuuqerque, I think you should have taken a left!!!!

Ya, I swore I would never live anywhere that was away from the ocean or Gulf!!!! So I end up 6000 feet above sea level and 800 miles from the nearest ocean. (I'll take the Atlantic over the Pacific anyday!!!) Anyway, Albuquerque has it's good points too, but they don't have anything that is close to the wonderful Jax Jazz Fest!!! Consider yourself extremely fortunate.

What is really nice is that only 120 miles away Down Town Disney has their Jazz fest the same weekend. If you don't like whos playing at one your go to the other. Actually a lot of the performers play one day at Jax and one day at Disney.
