I'm Looking to buy a metronome, Seek Advice....

I've not used one in quite a while. This will be for both personal use & teaching. I've noticed they're like everything else: changed quite a bit over the years. Any preferences? I'm looking in the $50 & under price range. I'm not at all familar with the electronic metronomes, I'm leaning towards a traditional one. I appreciate your thoughts.

I personally like the electronic ones, if you can find a click that doesn't drive you crazy. The nicer ones let you control the click's volume, and some let you set the "time signature"- this is helpful if you set it in 2 (but use the weak click as 1 and 3) so kids can get used to a swing feel...
The next better option is a drum machine- you can get one pretty cheap on ebay... You can use it as a metronome, or let the kids rock out to a pseudo drum track.

I have two QTime Metronomes they both deliver a loud click, which you can turn off. They also have a blinking cursor as a cue. One of the metronomes is about the size of a deck of cards. The other has the dimensions of a credit card. Both work fine for me! They were both about $15.00

I would not get a traditional one - the electronic metronomes are more precise, they don't "wobble".

You're a great bunch of folks! I just bid on a KORG MA30 on E-bay, & actually won the thing for $18! It's new, with manual, etc. I read lots of good reviews on it. I bid on it not expecting to win, but hey, it looks like I did. I'll let you guys know how it is when I get it. Again, thanks for all your help, you certainly convinced me to go electronic on this purchase. I never would have went this route if not for your advice.

in the mail yesterday. I must say, I'm quite impressed with it. It's the first electronic metronome I've owned, & all of you were correct in your statememts pertaining to the electronic being better than the traditional in overall features. It is small, compact, has a volume knob, & is easily understood. Thanks again for all of your help.
