Best recording software for the buck

Hi All
I would like to hear what you have to say about your favorite recording software for the computer.
I am looking for something that is not expensive that will let me record guitar and vocal tracks and maybe will import midi backing tracks to use with recording.
Man there are so many out there to choose from its mindboogling.
i have messed with Ntrack and had a demo of guitar pro that I never really did much with.
Thanks before hand for you advice.
Chet

Check out the absolutely free 4 track mixer and studio from digital sound planet. The catch is if you want to do more than 4 tracks they sell an 8 and 16 track version. Also it saves as an AVI so you can buy their mpg converter or find a different one. This is really great software for $0.

I have been using Cakewalk Music Creator for about a year. The manual/tutorials stink - but the software is very good and somewhat intuitive once you get into it. I've been very satisfied. I mainly use it to download and edit midi files to jam along with.
