American made Fender Strat with active EMG pickups. That is the

I was just curious what other ppl thought about The conversion from standard pickups to EMGs on all types and models of the American made strat whether it be standard, deluxe or custom. I also want you to take into consideration of all the combinations that the pickups could be placed on one whether its a H/H, H/S/S or a S/S/S. The questions are would it be worth the conversion price wise? What would the change in sound be like and would it be worth it? Do you think you'd like to have this conversion or have you already had a coversion made in the past with these pickups to a American made strat, if so how did you like it? One of my idols ues these pickups ona start but not sure if it is american made which I would probably assume so. I just found this out on the EMG website. His name is David Gilmour. Get back to me with plenty of response even if you think this is a terrible idea. Thanks all.

Yo Linky, (well, it's easier than Lincoln.....)

Personally, I haven't a clue! I don't think I've ever heard EMG's in action...I've heard plenty about them but don't have a clue as to what they might sound like, or if people thought they were any good, or what not....So I'll be waiting to see what other people think about this subject! :D

I personally think that letting fender make EMG's standard would just give them more of a chance to jack up the prices, even for those of us who'd rather pay less and just play on their standard noiseless-pickups (which sound great). They would have to charge extra for standard pickups because the guitar would have to be "custom ordered." I think fender would do fine to just let people order the pickups on their own and have their local shop put them in.

Oh, well I wasn't saying that they should come standard on the guitars I was just asking would it be worth having them put in just for te sound. No, I didnt mean to say that they should be made standard although I've never played on one myself but I intend to get one in the future and when I do I will probably have EMG SAs put in but that is just me. Im an EMG SUPER FREAK!!!!!! I love them. Thanks for the response though. I got a different view but it would have just answereed another question for the future. Thanks again for the response John.

Lincoln, I've used the EMG's for quite awhile
now and love 'em. Is there a particular sound
you are looking for? Take that into
consideration. Right now I'm using a
'85/SA/SA set up but am considering putting
another '85 in the neck position. They get alot
a juice back to your amp. David Gilmour. .
.whoa. . .haven't that name in ages. I've got
links to some MP3's I've done on my
wholenote home page. All guitar work was
done with my Fender. Adios, Scott

I've played with 85's and 81's and got to hear the SA's today on EMG's website. I want something with high output but my next FretBuzz question will be whether EMG's are better than Seymore Duncan. I would probably stick EMG's hands down but I honestly never heard a Seymore before. Oh and by the way if you like kirk hammet he is got his own combos out nw too with EMG. So does Zakk Wylde. At any rate thanks for getting back to me there Scott. Later.
