You favorite guitar in your collection?

I went through the archive through May of 2003 to see if anyone else posted this until I gave up...lol. What your favorite guitar to grab when you sit down? For me, I have a Dean Icon that very versatile, then either a Hamer or I have a Yamaha Pacifica...You?

Jay

Jason, I have an 01' McCarty in Black Cherry. Usually it hangs. It needs a set-up something terrible. However, it is a very nice guitar. I know guitars are meant to be played and all of that, but I don't think I would ever gig it.

I have been researching the Tone-pros bridge and think I will be installing it. You may want to check it out.

Hi Jay,
I think my most favorite to just sit down and grab is my Nashville Tele, I keep it strung light as in (9's and it feels very slinky and I bend allot when I play so this doesn't fight back.

Second favorite is Calif Strat, original

Favorite to own but not to play is 70 Les Paul Custom I have had since high school.

Favorite Acoustic, Gibson L-OO 1939 vintage
Plays like butter

Have a good one,
Dick

Hi Jay,
Sounds like you are a Les Paul fan.
It's all I played since 70 and about 6 or 7 years ago I saw a start at a garage sale, well I didn't have the money for it He wanted 350. with an amp and cords plus straps and books and hard case. But about a year later I woke up one morning on a sunday and thought " I bet that guy still has that guitar" and I went to see him. Well he was moving the next day and I got the guitar and all equip for 250. and ever since I have played a strat it is so hard to go back to the LP.
The LP is my pride and joy from High school, I bought when I was a junior and paid $500. for that and a Fender Twin.
And I still have both, but back to the strat, it felt so good in my hand and it is in excellent condition but when I play it I don't worry if I bump it or if someone else wnats to play it.
And when I play the LP it's like I have the holy grail in my hands, I'm afraid to turn around and hit something and I don't want to scratch it so I worry more about and don't really enjoy playing it that much anymore. The neck is quite a bit wider than my strats and the frets are almost not even there they are so thin and always have been.
So I get it out and play for awhile and polish it and look at it and then put it away.
Then I get out a strat and just tear that basement up. LOL
Like my post says " favorite to own but not to play" I wouldn't trade or sell it for anything, well almost anything.

I see allot of talk on here about the cost and worth of LP's and I sure couldn't afford one today. I feel bad for the guy's who really want one ,because they are cost prohibitive and in my day they were expensive but if you saved a little you could have one. Everybody was playing them, Allman bros, Leslie West ( mountian) and ME ( wait nobody knew me) LOL just to name a few.

Well good chatting with ya bro ,
Dick

I've got a 70's vintage Les Paul Custom (high school guitar too). It's a cream color that has yellowed over the years and is quite distiguished now. Very playable and I use it a lot because my other guitars are archtops that I can't use at higher volumes: Gibson ES175 50's vintage and an L5 early 70's vintage.

I'd like a strat or tele and a 335 someday. Love the strat tones. The 335 I once played was so perfect it was if my vision of the guitar became more accute. I could see everything and was playing with incredible ease. Maybe someday! LOL

Sounds like you have some nice guitars there. I'm with you. I could not sell or trade any of my guitars!

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the reply, hey I bet that LP is gorgoues do you have any pic's i would love to see it.
Mine is Black and the binding is now yellowed and it looks so cool. And man does it play, It is so loud compared to my strats and tele, but I seem to favor them right now.
I made a vow to myself when I moved to Montana, that I would never sell my LP no matter what was happening and I have been able to keep that promise. Lord knows living here ain't easy and at one time or other you consider selling your most prized possesions but I have been able to hang on the her and the fender twin I bought the same day as the LP.
Hope you can get a strat and or a Tele you will like them also as a compliment to the collection.
Later Bro
PS send some sunshine -25 here I'm ccccoooolllddd

Hi Dick,

I have a picture on a little website I threw together called www.add-a-track.com there is a tiny picture's section there and my daughter took the pictures on a very cheap camera. All my electics are there, and one of me playing the L5. I have one acoustic guitar that is really a family relic, an 1870's or older vintage Martin guitar (New York). Was supposed to by my Grandmother's mother's family freind's guitar... Quite old!

25 sounds cold! We are fluctuating <> 30's and low 40's in the morning!

Stay warm!

I love it. Jacksons rule the guitar realm. IMHO of course.
