Gibson has extremely strict policies for stores carrying their line. Its my understanding that in order to get the more basic gibsons, (standards, studios, sg), you now have to order a certain number of custom shop models. This could really hurt stores that don't sell alot of the high end stuff. Guitar center is just one of a number of stores that backed out of the gibson line because of this.

Guitar center has a good selection on what guitar brands they carry, at least better than MARS. Prices at MARS and local stores are always better than GC. Also GC sells small things like tubes, adaptors etc at suggested retail. That is terrible.
