Metallica.. are the metalheads done for good?

Metallica has been a very influincing band in my guitar work. Lately, (The last 3 albums: LOAD, RE-LOAD, St. ANGER) Metallica, to me, has been falling apart. I have heard many stories about how St. Anger wasn't checked over and over again for mistakes and re-recorded with maximum effort for the fans. To me, Metallica has turned lazy. From their horrible quality songs in St. Anger, to the screaming lyrics in the other songs, Metallica is just trying to become something that I think the true fans don't want. I think the true fans want them to stay the way the real Metallica was. Metallica right now is trying to become a band like Korn, a band that holds the title as "New Age Metal." Especially with their new bassist, Metallica just isn't the same as they used to be. Maybe it's just me. What do you guys think?

Watch out, you'll probebly get DJ Bennett comming in here saying how he thinks metallica dont suck and asking whats wrong with "load" J/k
I recon metallica should have finished with the big pay packet from the black album and all gone their seperate ways and started new bands.
James kirk and Lars have been together too long and now they just bring out the worst in each other.
Mr cheesey grin Rob whatever the hell dont help either.

I really think that we waste toooo much time on this subject. Believe me I'm not innocent in this, but enough is enough.
I like their old stuff and that's where my mind is staying.

LOL. I second your comment. They lost me after the Justice album. When the "Black" album came out, I was of the opinion that this was the start of something "not good" very un-metallica like.

You guys are nuts, the black album is awsome!

I like every metallia album I've heard.
(dont have St. Anger yet)

What is funny, is when they came on the scene I was in about 7th grade, and I thought Metallica and Motley Crue were "dirt ball" bands. HAHA. They are both on my favorite bands of all times list now. Just shows that bands change and people change. For being around for as long as they have, I am impressed with what they have done.

Rock on!

I too, liked the "Black Album", there were some killer tunes on it, but I must say, I'm dissapointed with anything after that, from them. I expected more from them.

As far as Motley Crue goes....Well, I loved their album with "Live Wire", "Shout at Devil", and "Theatre of Pain", which I really thought was a great album for them....Mostly from a musicians standpoint. You could see they had matured as musicians, and the content was pretty good. Good tour, also.

anybody ever think that maybe, just maybe metallica isn't "selling out" they're just changing? I don't think they've gone at all down hill i think they've just changed nothing more. St. Anger is not that great of an album and i don't say it becuase it doesn't compare to the older stuff (say my favorite...and justice for all) but because it's just not that musical, but i think they wanted it to be that way.

As far as them not going back and fixing mistakes: they didn't, but not because they were lazy but becasue they wanted to abandon that heavily produce sound of load and reload.

I don't get why the people that say they're metallica fans refuse to buy the new CD. I don't get it because if your a fan, then you buy the CD just because they are your favorite band. Thats why when St. Anger came out i was first in line to get it.

I love metallica they'll always be my all time favorite band, but man i think a lot of people need to get of their master of puppets high horse.

Theres my rant,

Kill em All was recorded in two weeks! I've allways dug the raw sound of that album, it's raw but it's still a "good" raw sound. And it's miles above anything put out since "And Justice". I used to love playing the intro to "Am I Evil". I actually used to be able to play most of that entire album, but I think I've forgotten it all :(

yeah.. every one says st.anger is poorly recorded and produced. but the worst recording in terms of sound quality is kill em all. but its one of my favorite albums. metallica have lost the creativity. half the songs in their new album sounds the same.

as for kill em all.. i remember playing 'am i evil' intro over and over again too. and when anasthesia is played right on a bass guitar it sounds fabulous.

any one noticed. ever since metallica stopped producing their good stuff they havent made a single instrumental songs while during the good times they made some masterpieces like orion, to live is to die and call of ktulu

hmmmm

interesting point. i agree. some of my favorite songs are the ballads. i dont care about the thrashing head bangin stuff, i just want good music. and metallica has always delivered that.

i truly love s&m. musically, but also there is a fire, an energy if you will about the music that does not exist in studio recordings. i think that is one reason that they did not refine the music. to try in capture as much of that as possible.

i will not buy the st anger cd, simply because i do not like the music, not because i am boycotting metallica for "selling out"
