My Confession.
I am falling in love with my tele. We are forming quite a relationship, which has taken a while to develop, but we took it slowly at first while I still played my strat on the side. (though only while the tele was in her case!!)
We have a solid grounding for our relationship based on a mutual respect for each other. As each day passes she lets me try new things. Some things she likes - other things she doesn't, but if i keep at her she usually gives in. Sometimes I give her quite a pounding, and sometimes she makes me pay. Why just last week i came out second best with sore and sorry fingers after trying a little jerry reed/jerry donahue number called menage:the beak/the claw. She couldn't quite get her head around bending in two different directions let alone bending behind the nut. I just know that she'll let me try it again and when we get good at it she'll never look back!!
My tele is really starting to behave herself, too. I remeber the time I had to tell her not to "take that tone with me!" I just wanted to play a nice quiet Martin Taylor arrangement by the name of I Get Along Without You Very Well. Once I played with her controls and put my hand around her neck we came to an understanding. If I touch her the right way before I start fiddling then she'll say the things I want to hear. I love it when she screams the most.... oh baby - just thinking about it.....
One time i went away for a week, and though i couldn't fret, upon my return she was right there laying on the bed, in the same position as when i left her - worn out looking nylon pick resting helplessly on her chest. I couldn't resist. I was the man - we must have played for an hour and a half, at least.
I hope they have teles in heaven.
Come to think of it, I am already there !!

You need to download and listen to "Bassically Yours" by Victor Wooten/Steve Bailey - it's a love song to a bass guitar using beautiful personification...
