I saw him this summer at a blues fest in Hartford. Very Cool. Just sat in his chair and played. Enjoy the show.

BB King - a review

Ryan Sequeira (7665) wrote:

well, the concert was absolutely amazing.
Hard to believe that a man of 77 years is still
having so much fun and touring. The opening
act was a local blues/rock band called Big
Daddy G, and they were spectacular, although
the guitarist's tone, IMO, was too shrieky.

BB King was amazing. kept on making jokes,
directed at everyone (including himself) and
everything, The music was wonderful,
although being a metalhead, there's only so
much blues i can listen to before getting
bored...and i did get a little bored towards the
end. However, it was a great show, great
music, and i had a great time.

I am just a bit envious of you, Ryan. I would love to see B. B. play live. Wait, I don't think I will ever see him play dead. Well, you know what I mean, I hope. :-)

Right. How about just letting the musical thought flow and forget about which pentatonic your using. Let it come out in sound. Capture it. All the other devices are just tools with out musical thought until you bring it into focus from within you. TOo much of anything can be stifling. Charlie

BB King rarely uses only the "normal" pentatonic minor - so you actually are telling us you've never really listened to him.

Anyone famaliar with the "B.B.King" box knows that it blends both the major and minor,so that he can summon either at will, from basically the same position. Not to mention all the jazz style licks and passing tones he adds for color. He's no slouch...
