Who's playing the Blues?

I know lots of good old Blues guitarists from the past but now I was interested in discovering some more of the present day. So who's actually playing the blues nowadays? Anything worth listen to? I prefer if you tell me solo artists rather than bands... Always watched the blues as a solo style...

Joe Bonamassa. That guy played SRV-stuff when he was 8 years old. If you need a place to start, check out his cover of 'If Heartaches Where Nickles' or 'Color & Shape'.

I heard Shemekia Copeland again last night and she is awesome. She has a set of lungs on her. Her music is exceptional also.

All good calls so far. My two cents:

KWS- I wouldn't say clone but, damn close. Still good though. My favorite tune of his though is a Bukka White cover, "Aberdeen Blues".

JV- I would imagine that JV was probably a little emotional at that event and I am sure his playing was not up to his liking either but can you blame the guy? At an event when you have three of the greatest blues guitarists ever, paying tribute to your lil' bro must be tough. And if JV is "Not in that league" well, he's still pretty damn good cause 99% of guitarists aren't in the same league with Buddy Guy and BB King.

Bonamassa is good...very Rory Gallagher influenced more than SRV IMO.

i'd have to say that susan tedeschi rocks the blues stage. she's got a really soulful voice, and good ol' bluesy guitar skills. her song "It hurt" won a grammy I believe. Anyhow, check her out!

He's not modern, but he's back after a few years - Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac).

Check out some of the Peter Green splintergroup stuff and maybe John Mayall.

There are still great blues guitarists today, it's just a matter of looking. The ones I'm listening to at the moment are:

Jeff Lang:
He plays Lap Steel and Acoustic. I've been listening to him for awhile and I never get tired of hearing him play, he's also a brilliant songwriter.

Warren Haynes:
One of the best out there at the moment.

Derek Trucks:
In a league of his own. 'Nuff Said.
