NGW Gear (anyone been there?)

hey, this is a question for people who have
been to the National Guitar Workshop before.
I'm leaving for the Conneticut campus in a few
days, and i'm deciding which guitar to take.
Basically, it's either my $1000 PRS or my $450
Strat. The PRS is better for my rig, but the Strat
can also work (though not as well). If you
could suggest which one i should take based
on chance of damage, the way the place
works, and what other people tend to bring.
thanks a lot!

I would say take which ever guitar you are more comfortable playing. I have never been to NGW but I recieved a brochure. If I had the time and the money I would go. It can only help. I mean they wouldnt offer a school if they sucked would they? I say you cant go wrong. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

You might want to contact Harry Jacobson, who's a member of the site and has been teaching at the NGW for a long time. He's a really nice guy, and can probably give you some tips on what the scene will be like.

I'd e-mail him privately, instead of sending him feedback through WN, because I don't think he checks in with the site that often and might miss your message...

it's real mellow at ngw. i went there when it was still ngsw. there really isn't much of a chance of theft (for guitars -- but for pedals, picks and cables -- that's another story). if you bring an amp make sure your comfortable with carring it for about two miles every day (there are some long walks to different classes) -- you might concider renting one of thier practice amps while you are there.

if peter einhorn, tom dempsy or tosh sheridon are there when you are ask them if they remember a lex jones (big, hairy guy with a red hondo archtop).
