The Best Blues Recordings

In your opinion, what are three essential blues cds that anyone looking to start a blues collection needs? I'd have to go for BB King's "Deuces Wild," SRV's "In Step," and Muddy Water's "His Best: 1956-1964." But then again, I don't have an extensive blues collection. What are three blues cds you couldn't be without?

i'd say anything by stevie ray, b.b., albert kong, buddy guy , and jimi , but another fave of mine that i think deserves a top slot right up with srv is scott henderson and the album 'tore down house', he is playing with srv tone and passion but with more advanced harmonic elements as in the use of the diminished scale and chromatic, he is a favorite of mine because he is making the blues grow and is one of a kind that is way above any srv clone.

After seeing the good posts, I'm off to the cd store 'cause my collection is getting lonely for some new stuff too.

I'll second muddy waters "hard again", any SRV, and BB King. And add some favorite songs,

"Hear my train a commin" - jimi
"Summertime" - Janis Joplin
"Boom Boom Boom" - John Lee Hooker
