Mind Altering Substances

I was talking with a guy the other day that told me musicians were notorious for substance abuse.
Quite honestly I couldn't believe it.
Then i thought about some of the posts on W?n oops w0./ oops W/n oops W/N and realized what a great site this is.

Sammy,

Try an experiment: record yourself when you think you're playing like Page. Then listen to it the next day and see if your perspective has changed.

It is not just musicians. I do know that some use elements and that seems to remove the inhibitions. Personally I have never used anything stronger than a beer or some cigarettes at one time. Over time my body changed and alcholic drinks of any type gave me an upset stomache. It is my personal choice not to scramble my brains as I have enough problems without adding more. Then again ... many of my friends died from various causes and I am still here. I will be 76 this year and probably will get to 95 at least as I come from a long longevity line. I wish everyone well in what ever you do. I can't thow stones at anyone.

I had smoked for some 40 years and have been free from nicoteen and caffein addiction since 1986.

I wish the best for everyone.

Sure. But there are plenty who do not. I'm not throwing stones, but I'll tell you that musician or not, fame and money go to most people's heads. And where fame and money don't come in, it's because people are either drowning in their sorrows or becoming legends in their own minds!

I don't know. With names out there like the Stones and the Doobies, there's go to be at least some truth to the rumor. Right, Jimi, Janis, and Curt?

Oh, I know! Just trying to put a positive spin on this. Just like Jon was saying. Take a look at Behind the Music and that's the only thing you'll need to see.
