What's your favorite lyric?

Mine is definately the breakdown in the middle of "The Everlasting Gaze" by the Smashing Pumpkins:

We all want to hold in the everlasting gaze, enchanted in the rapture of his sentimental sway, but underneath the wheels lie the skulls of every cog, and the fickle fascination of an everlasting god - you know I'm not dead.

Colors on the street =

Red, white, and blue
People shuffling their feet =

People sleeping in their shoes
There's a warning sign in the road ahead
There's a lot of people saying we'd be better
off dead
Don't feel like Satan, but I am to them
So I try Forget them any way I can
Keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world
I see a girl in the night =

with a baby in her hands
Under an old street light
near a garbage can
Now she put her kid away, she's gone to get a
hit
She hates her life, and what she's done with it
That's one more kid, that'll never go to school
Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool
Keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world
There's a thousand points of light
For the homeless man
There's a kinder, gentler machine gun hand
There's department stores, and toilet paper
Styrofoam garbage for the Ozone layer
There's a man of the people, says people
alive
Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive
Keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world
keep on rocking in the free world

Henly really has a knack for being succinct and poignant.

On the lighter side...

"His leather jacket had chains that would jingle. They both met movie stars, partied and mingled. Their A&R man said I don't hear a single. The future was wide open."

Paul,
my girlfriend is a die-hard Henley fan, so she would definitely agree with your suggestions. My personal fave Henley song lyric is "Garden of Allah".

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends
I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
there is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

Great lyrics huh?
