So you're all hyped up about writing your first song... This may be your first true attempt or you've tried and are not satisfied.

I don't know everything about the guitar and songwriting. Let's get that point straight first off. But I am wanting to share a few things that helped me get started. And I do know this--you have something inside that's just waiting to gush out in the form of sound, especially if you're enthused about writing a song.

This lesson might help you put something together that you can enjoy playing.

Know these definitions

--3 Elements of Music--
  1. Harmony: Two or more notes played at the same time. (i.e. playing chords or two instruments playing at the same time.)

  2. Melody: A sequence of notes played one after the other. (i.e. playing the notes of scales one at a time.)

  3. Rhythm: Music in terms of time.

This lesson will be about Harmony, creating groups of chords that work well together. There are several lessons on wholenote.com that you should look at if you would like to expand your horizons as a musician. I suggest that you surf this place.
