Drill each scale form back wards and forwards, up and down the neck

because lesson 2 will test your skills, your dexterity and your stamina.

You can sweep pick, or alternate pick, hammer on, pull off, slide, mute,

and harmonics everything you see here.

We begin with a,

 Simple Scale Format

e|---------|----------|-------10-|12-10-8-----|----------|----------|
B|---------|----------|--10--------|--------10-8|----------|----------|
G|---------|------7-|-------------|------------|-9-7-5----|----------|
D|---------|--7------|-------------|------------|-------7-5|----------|
A|-----5-|----------|-------------|------------|----------|-7-5-3----|
E|-5------|----------|-------------|------------|----------|-------5-3|
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Now look at our "Simple Scale Format" closely in-order to see how to break it down to it's most

Simplified Arpeggio Form

e|-----------------|12-8----------------|
B|-------------------|------8-------------|
G|------------------|--------9-5---------|
D|-------------------|------------5-------|
A|------------------|--------------7-3---|
E|-------------------|------------------3-|

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Now we will begin on expanding our "Simple Scale Format" as shown below in our

Extended Scale Format

e|-------------|--------------|--------7---|12-10-8-7-------|--------------|--------------|
B|-------------|--------------|-7------------|----------10-8-7|--------------|--------------|
G|-------------|-------4---|-----------------|----------------|-9-7-5-4------|--------------|
D|-------------|-4----------|-----------------|----------------|---------7-5-4|--------------|
A|------2---|--------------|-----------------|----------------|--------------|-7-5-3-2------|
E|2----------|--------------|-----------------|----------------|--------------|---------5-3-2|

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Right away it should be apparent to you that our "Simple Scale Format" is imbedded in our "Extended Scale Format" as-well as our "Simplified Arpeggio Form" shown below.

e|-------------|--------------|--------7--10-|12-10-8-7-------|--------------|--------------|
B|-------------|--------------|-7--10----------|----------10-8-7|--------------|--------------|
G|-------------|-------4--7-|-----------------|----------------|-9-7-5-4------|--------------|
D|-------------|-4--7--------|-----------------|----------------|---------7-5-4|--------------|
A|------2--5-|--------------|-----------------|----------------|--------------|-7-5-3-2------|
E|2--5--------|--------------|-----------------|----------------|--------------|---------5-3-2|
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
There is still more to learn from this scale, look at our "Extended Scale Format" once again.
e|-------------|--------------|---------8-10-|12-10-8-7-------|--------------|--------------|
B|-------------|--------------|-7--10----------|----------10-8-7|--------------|--------------|
G|-------------|--------5-7-|-----------------|----------------|-9-7-5-4------|--------------|
D|-------------|-4--7--------|-----------------|----------------|---------7-5-4|--------------|
A|-------3-5-|--------------|-----------------|----------------|--------------|-7-5-3-2------|
E|2--5--------|--------------|-----------------|----------------|--------------|---------5-3-2|
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
You got it, we can break this scale down to it's lowest form too.
Alternate Simplified Arpeggio Form

e|---------------|12-7--------------|
B|-----------------|-----8------------|
G|----------------|-------9-4--------|
D|-----------------|-----------5------|
A|----------------|-------------7-2--|
E|-----------------|-----------------3|
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Awsome you did it, our goal here is a tempo of 300 or more, at 240 and above you begin to flutter across the keyboard like the devil I am but... If you've mastered these scale forms backwards and forwards, up and down at a tempo of atleast 120 then you are ready to proceed to the next lesson on page two. Get a bucket of water ready because your fret-board will likely get very hot.
