This little chord series is aimed at players who are already familiar with and using basic chords already - these are ways to spice some of the basics up. If you need to brush up or learn about basic chord usage please go to our Basic 'Essential' Chord Families Guide

Spinning Electric Guitar width=60 height=100

Impress your girlfriend or mates :), with these 2 simple but jazzy chords, well worth getting under your belt: C and F - Major 7. Both use open strings and are quick to learn.

Guitar Chord C Major 7 width=176 height=138
C Major 7

Guitar Chord F Major 7 width=176 height=138
F Major 7

Try 'em with a simple 4 downstroke rhythm counting 1 2 3 4 as you go and loop continuously.

CMaj 7 /// : F Maj7 ///
1 234 : 1 234

It's real easy to make the changes and it sounds nice and jazzy-ish. To finish off the little sequence anytime, land on the CMaj7 chord (to resolve it). Resolved means the sequence sound's finished as such. If you were to land on the FMaj7 chord it feels like it wants to always go back to the C, which in this case is the "home" chord - so finish off on the CMaj7 and...

You're laughin' ;-)...

Thanx
