The art of guitar requires speed and accuracy. The best guitarists out there can play fast, but have strong, steady fingers, that are as accurate as they are fast. Speed is not something that you start off with when you begin playing guitar. It is something you must work on and imporve upon as you play more. If you are a begginer you may want to take a look at this lesson. It has easy drills that you can do to improve your speed while maintaining accuracy. I know from expierence though, that it takes more than just drills to make you faster and overall a better player. Work on playing songs that are fast to improve your playing speed also. And don't forget about ALTERNATE PICKING! Alternate picking is imperative to improving your playing speed.
