What Is A Trill?

I recently asked this question, and this was the answer that I got; If there are two notes given to "trill," I believe it means to fret one note, and then rapidly hammer-on/pull-off of the other before moving on. So from what I understand is you just pick a note, hammer-on it, then pull off. I'm pretty sure I'm right.
