I started with the first six notes of the aeolian scale in the key of A and reapeated it twice on higher octaves to create an expansive and lick. This sequence sounds great played in either legato or alternate picking, playing it legato or sweeped gives it a smoother sound while picking it gives it edge. This lick is useful in solos and improvisation because it can serve as a transition from the lower notes to the higher notes. This particular pattern has a nine fret range, it can make your lead go from thunderously low to screaming high.
