A good guitarist should have a couple of jazz chords in their repertoire. These chords can add a completely different sound to your chord progressions. I have included the chords for the song "Take a message" by Motown recording artist Remy Shand. Due to space I have condensed the song and have also arranged the keyboard parts for the guitar. Measures 1-8 would be considered the verse, measures 9-12 the pre-chorus and 13-16 the chorus. I would recommend listening to the original version to learn the structure of the song. Learn the chord shapes and familiarize yourself with the sound of each chord. I personally gravitate towards min9, min11 and maj9 chords. I really like the sound and will often subsitute a min9 chord in place of a min7 chord. The notes of a minor 9 chord are 1, b3, 5, b7 and 9. I really like this song and the overall groove.
