Here are some examples of what some exotic scales sound like over their corresponding chords. Experiment with others and let your ears judge on what sounds good to yoou. As with the other chord/scale choices, try grabbing some musical examples where you can hear some of these scales in a real musical examples. Measure one in the examples below is the Persian Scale, measure3- Hebrew Scale, 5- Japanese Scale, 7- Arabian scale, meausre 9- Egyptian scale, 11- Hungarian Minor scale, 13- Balanise scale, and measure 15 introduces the Oriental scale. Many of these scales can be found in the basics part of the wholenote site, give them a try along with the other "exotic" scales and be prepared to take your playing to foreign lands and many adventures.
