HI and welome to my lesson,in this lesson i'm going to talk about finding new and fresh ideas by listening to other styles of music and how to incoparate them into your own playing,I found a whole treasure trove of great ideas by listening to classical composers such as Bach, motzart the list goes on and on.One of the coolest though was Bach's use of pedal tones a melodic device in witch a melody is played over a continusly repeated note(s) this one depicts a very basic pedal motive (a good introduction) notice how in bar 1 I alternate between the high f (13th fret)and a descending A harmonic minor scale(A,B,C,D,E,F,G#) passage.I use my left hand pinky as an anchor to play the pedal note anyway hope this helps,I've got plenty more examples of these as well as loads of other concepts.peace MICHAEL MCLAUGHLIN E-MAIL ME @ intoinfinity_23@hotmail.com
