The term syncopation means to alter the feel of the pulse by accenting a weak or off beat rather than the strong beat. This particular study is composed mostly of eighth notes. Therefore we count 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &. One Method to practice syncopation is by counting 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & but clapping only the notes that are being played.
