I am still working on this lesson, start with this excercise to get ready for what is to come, the thumb plays the root, chord root/fifth, chord pattern on the bottom strings while the fingers play the melody, which fingers you use to play the melody are entirely personal preference, to get the sound really together it is best to use a thumbpick to get the proper sound in the bass, but some players choose not to use them, it is player preference. The lick at the end is just a fun little thing that feels as good to play as it sounds. I believe it is from Doc Watson, enjoy.
