Note for anyone out there who might be more familiar with English slang than with farm animals: "Cock" is one of the names for a male chicken, a rooster. A young rooster is a cockerel. In the context of "The Cock and Hen", this is a tune (and maybe a story, if we knew the words) about chickens. I used to have a flock of chickens. The cock, or rooster, is the one that crowed at dawn--usually under my bedroom window so I'd get up and feed him.
