Scale Patterns Starting With D

Let's start playing around D major chords, D minor chords, and D7 chords at the 5th fret.

D Mixolydian Mode

Let's start the the D Mixolydian mode that you can play against the D7 chord:

This view of the D Mixolydian mode shows the same pattern that has three notes per string starting at the tonic (D on the 5th fret on the 5th string A). Each note is a whole step apart as illustrated below:
