Summary of what you have learnt so far and basic guidelines

  • Make sure you are sitting comfortably
  • Use the ends of your fingers when fretting so that they don't prevent local strings from ringing
  • When using the plectrum hold it in a relaxed fashion so that when you strum a chord you can't hear each string being played individually
  • Make sure the guitar is tuned

  • Count the steady beat when you are playing
  • Try and keep your upstrokes and downstrokes at and equal volume
Keep practising Enjoy what you are doing, if not then you won't learn as much and you will find that your progression is very limited.

The next few lessons will see the introduction of some new chords, and some different music
