Hear is an example of something the Allman Brothers would do in a solo and also in a melodic situation. It is harmonized in thirds and is primarily Hexatonic (another Allman favorite)with the 2nd (9th) popping up in there in some of the harmonies, learn these and try to get an overall grasp of how these are formed so you can build your own harmonies, and when you are playing with a fellow lead guitarist put your heads together and you can come up with some really cool Harmonies.
