One aside to the example on the previous page is that you can pretty much take any lick and drone the tonic note above it. That is to say, if you have a blues lick in E, you can keep playing an E along with every note in the lick. To see what I mean, take a look at the example below, where we simply play an E blues scale, but we keep droning the top string...
