Invert means to turn around, go a different direction, change, reverse spacing, or something like that may give an idea of the direction of this lesson.

Every time we look in a mirror we see the reverse of what other people see

Normally when have a chord inversion, a different note of the chord(the root, 3rd, 5th, 7th) may be on the bottom of the chord

You need to know all the intervals between the notes (1)for scales(2)for chords, and (3)Progressions

SCALES

Some of the symbols I use are not available for use on this site so I will improvise.

The ^ symbol I use is for half step indicators.

If we take the C scale and insert the number of half steps between the scale degrees we would have the following tones C^^D^^E^F^^G^^A^^B^C

Numerically the interval distances between the scale degrees would be I^^ii^^iii^IV^^V^^vi^^vii^VIII

Ok now lets work backwards from the last tone, the octave, the last tone of the C scale.

We can work from either position of tne note C in the C scale. The tonic is the(1st degree) or the octave.I or VIII.
