Riff 1

This riff is also the intro of the song. Start with your index finger on the third fret of the first string. Then use your middle finger or pinky for the 5th fret, 3rd string. Once that note is stroked, you have two strokes worth of time moving your hand up the fretboard to grab the 1st fret, 3rd string with your index finger followed by the 3rd fret on the same string with your middle finger while leaving the index finger on the first fret. Once you stroked that note, all you need to do is to lift your middle finger from the 3rd fret and stroke again. Then move your hand up the fretboard to grab the 5th fret on the second string using your middle finger or pinky.

The second half of the riff is essentially the same, except that you don't move your hand up the fretboard in the end but simply grab the third fret on the second string with your middle finger.

Use your alternate picking technique to play this and the next riff.

Once you are comfortable with this riff, you can put it togeter with the other two we allready have in sequence. That would be:

4x Riff 1, 2x Riff 2, 2x Riff 3
